Sermon Synopsis
  •        The bread and fruit on the table looked delicious, except you could not find a trace of that wonderful aroma of fresh baked bread.  It was bread, but only a decoration, covered in varnish and plastic fruit that looked very real.  Our minds and bodies often want what we can see, but it may not be what we need or what is genuine food.
  •      The common trend is to desire that which satisfies for the moment, and even the Hebrew people wished for bread to eat in their desert sojourn of exodus.  Instead of the common bread, God gave them manna.  The bread of heaven, good for just the immediate day, came down like dew, tasted sweet, without adding sugars and was a source of lasting nutrition.  But, the people were not satisfied with what God provided, because it did not last and it made them go each day before the Lord.
  •      Jesus came to bring another bread, the bread of life.  Though it came from heaven, like a manna, it was not something to be consumed.  This manna would last for eternity, and though we would not need its provision each day, it lasted for all of our days as we would daily partake of His goodness.
