Sermon Synopsis
  •        How many times do we feel as though all of life may be against us?  There isn't enough money, our strength is waning, even the dog snarls at us.  Is this to be the reality of life, with troubles and heartaches?  Jesus was told that Lazarus had died, but He waited four days before arriving in Bethany.  Some people said the body would have begun to smell in the grave.  But hadn't Jesus said (6:4) this was for the glory of God?  How glorious is a smelly corpse?
  •         In a moment of compassion, Jesus told Mary, Lazarus' sister, that He was the resurrection and Life.  She acknowledged that in faith, there would be a general resurrection of the dead, but that was in the future.  Life was gone from Lazarus and from their lives as well.  Jesus was and is the Life that supersedes all that the world hands to us.  He brings to our lives a Life that reflects the glory of God.
  •         Our experience of Life now is a mere shadow of that which God is preparing for us in heaven. That is why we embrace the Life in Jesus Christ now, as we await the resurrection to eternal life.
